SSC Stenographer Selection Process
Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC Stenographer exam every year in 2 different stages. The SSC Stenographer Selection Process has Computer-based Test and a Shorthand Skill Test
- The candidate must qualify for both stages of examination to receive the appointment letter for the post of Stenographer Grades C and D.

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2024 - SSC Stenographer Exam will be conducted in 2 different stages to select eligible candidates. The first level is the Grade C and D written exam that consists of MCQs and is conducted online. Post this exam, an exam to test your shorthand skill sets in various domains. SSC Stenographer 2024 CBT Exam Pattern
A single computer-based test on paper is part of the SSC Stenographer Selection Process for 2024 (CBT). According to the SSC Stenographer Syllabus, this CBT is divided into four sections: general awareness, English and understanding, general intellect, and reasoning. There are 200 questions on the 200-mark test.
For every answer that is right, you receive one mark; for every answer that is wrong, you lose 0.25 marks. Candidates must receive the necessary scores in the SSC Stenographer CBT exam in order to move on to the next round. SSC Stenographer Shorthand Skill Test
The following is the SSC Stenographer Skill Test Syllabus. The SSC Stenographer Skill Test is administered on paper as well as on computers. Depending on their scores, the applicants for Group D and C will be given a passage speed of 800 and 1000 wpm, respectively.
- For Stenographer Group ‘D’: 800 words @80 words per minute (w.p.m).
- For Stenographer Group ‘C’: 1000 words @100 words per minute (w.p.m).
The shorthand passage will then have to be transcribed on a computer in 50 minutes for Grade D and 40 minutes for Grade C.
SSC Stenographer 2024 Qualifying Criteria
The candidates will first have to secure a cut-off set by the SSC to qualify for the shorthand stage.
- The qualifying marks are different for the written test of Stenographers in Grade C and Grade D.
- The candidates qualifying for the written test will be eligible to appear for the shorthand skill test.
- The shorthand skill test is qualifying in nature.
- The merit list will be prepared based on the marks secured by the candidates in the written test.

SSC Stenographer Skill Test 2024
The skill test is a qualifying round in the SSC Stenographer selection process. Applicants may take part in this phase provided they pass the CBT exam. In the SSC Stenographer skill test, applicants are required to transcribe a 10-minute Hindi and English dictation. SSC Stenographer Document Verification 2024
Document verification is the final step in the SSC Stenographer selection process. Applicants are eligible for this phase if they get the required score on the skill test and the CBT exam for stenographers. Candidates are required to submit the required documentation in accordance with the standards set forth by the authorities during the document verification process.
